OmniAudio ANU - Audio Network Unit

End unit designed to communicate with OmniAudio Server unit for high-end simulators and modelling environments including Level-D flight simulators.

  • Utilizing IEEE ABV/TSN technology for low latency media transfer over ethernet
  • Enables connection to variety of communication devices
OmniAudio ANU 1

The OmniAudio ANU is a compact, 48 kHz digital audio distribution module that connects remotely located operator stations and live radios to the audio network. The ANU provides noiseless analog-to-digital conversion, and low-latency audio distribution over ethernet.

The ANU integrates push-to-talk (PTT) units, volume controls, simulated communication panels, hand-held terminals, and live radios into the simulated communications environment.

ANU supports the following features:

  • 48 kHz digital audio interfaces
  • Software-adjustable amplifier or pre-amplifier gains and microphone power for easy, direct connection to military and commercial headsets and a wide variety of audio and communication systems and peripherals.
  • Configurable digital and analog input/output (I/O) for direct connection of PTT units, volume control, switch detection, radio PTT activation, and other control applications.
  • Each device supports 4 differential audio inputs and 8 single-ended audio outputs, 3 control inputs and 1 digital output.

IEEE AVB/TSN based network stack provides low latency sound dissemination over ethernet. IEEE AVB/TSN guarantees initiation and flow of streaming data over the network less than 8 ms.

Compared with existing commercial alternatives, IEEE AVB/TSN is the fastest solution with no license fees.

ANU is one of the key components of OmniAudio simulation environment. It is responsible for continuously conveying data to and from OmniAudio Simulation servers. Inputs taken from analog and digital ports are feed to server(s) and simulation outputs generated by server(s) are transferred to end points.

What is the OmniAudio ANU?

The OmniAudio Audio Network Unit (ANU) is a compact 48 kHz digital audio interface that connects headsets, push-to-talk units, volume controls, communication panels and live radios to the OmniAudio Simulation Server. It converts analog audio to digital without noise and carries it over Ethernet with IEEE AVB/TSN, with under 8 ms latency.

Frequently asked questions

What can I connect to the ANU?

Military and commercial headsets, push-to-talk (PTT) units, volume controls, simulated communication panels, hand-held terminals and live radios. Amplifier and preamplifier gains and microphone power are set in software.

How many inputs and outputs does the ANU have?

Each ANU has 4 differential audio inputs, 8 single-ended audio outputs, 3 control inputs and 1 digital output.

Why IEEE AVB/TSN?

IEEE AVB/TSN carries audio over standard Ethernet and guarantees that streams start and flow in under 8 ms. Compared with commercial alternatives, it is the fastest option and has no licence fees.

Which simulators is the ANU for?

High-end simulators and modelling environments built on OmniAudio, including FAA Level-D flight simulators.
